Character actor Gus Schilling was usually seen in comedic roles, but was a favorite of Orson Wells, who cast Schilling in small dramatic roles in CITIZEN KANE and TOUCH OF EVIL. Gus teamed with Richard Lane (TIME OUT FOR RHYTHM) for the Columbia short subject series "Schilling & Lane." An S&L Stooge-related project was to assume the starring roles in PARDON MY TERROR (1947), the next short originally scheduled for Moe, Larry & Curly, before Curly's tragic career-ending stroke on the set of HALF-WIT'S HOLIDAY.
