Character actor specializing in costarring roles since the early 1940s. Career film highlights include THE OX-BOW INCIDENT (1942), THE GLENN MILLER STORY (1953) and INHERIT THE WIND (1960). Costarred in the 1950s TV hit DECEMBER BRIDE, and its spin-off PETE AND GLADYS. Joined Jack Webb as 'Sgt. Joe Friday's' new partner on the DRAGNET relaunch of 1967 - 1970. Achieved his greatest success as 'Col. Sherman Potter' on M*A*S*H from 1975 - 1983.

Also billed as Henry Morgan early in his film career; changed his first name back to Harry in the 1950s, to avoid confusion with the author and TV game show personality of the same name.
