Richard reached the rank of 1st Lieutenant (9th Infantry, 2nd Division) before being killed in action. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and other honors. Fiske is buried at Brittany American Cemetery in France.

Fiske was profiled in The Three Stooges Journal # 64.
