`Ted Healy was Moe Howard's childhood friend, who helped get Moe into the movies and acting, and became the "boss" of "Ted Healy and His Stooges." Ted was a heavy drinker and womanizer, and eventually the Stooges left him to go on their own. Ted died after being severely beaten in a fight while out celebrating the birth of his child.`
