HERE'S HOWE

Newly crowned heavyweight champ Joe Palooka, manager Knobby Walsh (Shemp), and sparring partner Punchy, set up training camp at a farmer's boarding house. The champ is broke and the board tab keeps rising, prompting the farmer to threaten them with a visit from the Sheriff.

Local society girl Ann Howe catches Palooka's eye, and she convinces him to fight an exhibition bout with Punchy at a charity event she's hosting. Her boyfriend Jim Perry, an ex-amateur college boxing champ, is jealous and schemes to replace Punchy so he can embarrass Joe, and impress Ann. Meanwhile, Knobby figures out a way to con Ann into paying their boarding bill.

We open "HERE'S HOWE" where we are seeing a hand painted sign made out of four individual uneven cut raw wooden planks that are glued together and the sign is nailed to a side of a storage barn that reads as follows:

HICKS FARM
TRANSIENTS ACCOMMODATED
FRESH EGGS, PULLETS, HONEY,
MAPLE SYRUP, PUPPIES,
REFRESHMENTS
AND BLOODWORMS
FOR SALE

We are now seeing a farm. It is a lovely, hot Summers Day. The sun is in full shine in a beautiful cloudless aqua bleu skyeline. Maple trees are in full leafing. There is grass that is in need of being cut. Three beautiful hazed over mountains in the background. There are several lovely roses bushes in full flowering. Chickens are clucking, pigs are oinking, ducks are quacking, cows are mooing and the horses are neighing. There are lovely full bloomed daffodils all around a lovely cedar plank farm house with three huge windows of white wood and cut glass. A cedar plank porch with a small white picket fence on it and three cedar plank steps leading up to the entrance doorway that is of a white lattice doorwell and there is a screen for the window. Plus there are several stacks of straw scattered throughout and also next to a storage barn there is a fighting ring.

We are now in the kitchen quarters where we are seeing a very tired "MISS MATILDA"; {MAXINE STONE}; dressed in a short-sleeved polka-dot printed house style of a dress with a black half apron tied around her waist as she has her lovely curly blonde hair tied back with a huge black bow hair clip.

She is now in the process of preparing breakfast. She is cooking in one large cast iron skillet two dozen eggs. In another smaller sized cast iron skillet she is frying bacon, ham, and sausages. Plus in a really tiny cast iron skillet she is frying two flap stacks. {The kitche is decorated with floral print wall covering, a large cast iron cooking stove is in the centre of the kitchen. Plus on a west wall there is a small window that is opened with a sheer white curtain that is tied back. There is a small cut-out on the upper part of the left side wall with a vase of fresh flowers in it. There is a large eight shelves storage pantry with different spices and different pantry items on it. There is a bench in front of the window. Plus on the left side of the window is an end stand that has a dish of fresh fruits on it and on the right side of the window there is a small preparations stand. The kitchen floor is of unfinished wooden planks and a large floral toss rug in front of the cookings stove}:

We are now seeing Miss Matilda walking over to her preparations stand as she is mixing up a large bowl of flap stacks batter as she is now thinking of a quicker way to cook the flap stacks as she is taking down from the storage pantry a can that reads "JOLLY TIME POP CORN." She is now pouring a large portion of the popping corn into the flap stacks batter and is mixing it in.

She is now approaching a well conditioned flap stacks griddle as we are now seeing her pouring on six flap stacks as the popping corn is now exploding and causing the flap stacks to flip themselves and having them cook quicker on the other side. She is now catching them onto a serving platter.

We are now seeing "PA"; {HARRY SHORT}; walking into the kitchen dressed in a pair of dungarees, torn and dirty long-sleeved plaid shirt, dirty black cotton vest, torn hat and scuffed up brown work boots as he is now setting down two pails of milk.

PA to MISS MATILDA: {As he has poured the milk into a storage container as is looking at her in a carrying way as he is asking her in a polite voice}: "Well, is breakfast ready?"

MISS MATILDA to PA: {As she is looking at him with a really dazed and tired look as she is saying to him in a serious and dragged out sorry version of a Southern accent}: "Yeah's Pa, yeah's. We gotta wait until Mr. Palooka gets in from his road work."

PA to MISS MATILDA: {As Pa is standing there with his hands on his waist and a mad look on his face as he is stating to her in a carrying voice}: "Well, that's great. They don't eat enough, but they gotta go out and work up an appetite so they can eat more, don't they?"

MISS MATILDA to PA: {As she is looking at Pa with a sarcastic look as she is stating to him in a low and mad voice}: "Yeah's Pa, yeah's!"

We are now back outside in the beautiful Summers Day with the cloudless bleu skyeline and full sun.

We are now seeing a lovely white pickett entrance fence. Lovely curvey stone walkway, leafed out Maple tress, flowering shrubs, long grass with the house to your right and in dead centre viewing is the fighting ring and we are still seeing a small titch of the lovely mountains in the background.

We are now seeing "JOE PALOOKA"; {ROBERT NORTON}; now running in through the entrance fence; {Dressed in a pair of grey dress trousers, white short-sleeved shirt, and black dress shoes}: Plus we are seeing "PUNCHY"; {LEE WEBER}; running in behind Joe dressed in a pair of black dress trousers, black shoes, black hat, and a grey sweatshirt that reads on the back: "JOE PALOOKA". Plus we are now seeing "KNOBBY WALSH"; {SAMUEL HORWITZ}; also dressed in a pair of black dress trousers, black shoes, black hat and a grey sweatshirt that reads on the back: "JOE PALOOKA" as Knobby is now riding in on a bicycle.

KNOBBY WALSH to JOE PALOOKA and PUNCHY: {As Knobby has a serious look on his face as he is shouting at them in a serious voice}: "Pick 'em up will ya, pick 'em up and lay 'em down!"

We are now seeing Joe Palooka reaching the front porch with a really happy look on his face as Punchy is now reaching the porch all tuckered out and gasping for aire as he is now sitting down on the porch. Joe is now jogging in place happily. Knobby Walsh is now disembarking off of his bicycle.

JOE PALOOKA to PUNCHY: {As Joe has a really happy look on his face as he is now sitting on the proch steps next to Punchy and is stating to him in a gleeful voice}: "Haa-haa-haa-haa-haa-haa, nothing like a good work-out to make a fella feel great, hunha, Punchy? How's your wind?" {Here we are seeing Joe patting Punchy on his right shoulder as Punchy is now smiling and winking in a happy and mischievous state}:

KNOBBY WALSK to JOE PALOOKA: {As Knooby has now finished laying his bicycle along side of the house and is turning around and looking at Joe with a happy look and is asking him in a happy and questionable voice}: "How do you feel, son?"

JOE PALOOKA to KNOBBY WALSH: {As Joe is still sitting on the porch steps and is looking at Knobby with a happy look and is stating to him gleefully}: "Oh, I feel fine, thank-you, Mr. Knobby!"

We are now back in the kitchen quarters where we are seeing Miss Matilda slaving over a hot stove as she is preparing the morning grub as Pa is standing behind her with a serious look and is now smoking a pipe.

PA to MISS MATILDA: {As Pa is looking at her with a dazed look and is stating to her in a slightly mad voice}: "They better pay me some money pretty soon, or out they go." {Here we are seeing Pa sliding his arms sidesways as a motion of tossing people out of his front door}:

MISS MATILDA to PA: {As she has a dumbfounded look on her face as she is stating to him in a low, dragged out mad tone of a voice}: "Oh, yeah's, easy Pa."

We are now seeing Pa exiting from the kitchen quarters to their living room quarters.

We are now back outside where we are seeing Joe Palooka and Punchy sitting on the porch steps with happy looks on their faces as Knobby is standing up and leaning against a porch railing.

KNOBBY WALSH to JOE PALOOKA and PUNCHY: {As he is looking at them with a wiry grin and is stating to them in a happy voice}: "There's nothing like the odour of that good country aire, the odour of that new mowed hay, and me for an order of that ham and eggs, wow!" {Here we are seeing Knobby wiggling his nose as he is now smelling the eggs and ham}:

We are now seeing Pa opening up the front door and is starting to come out as we are seeing Knobby, Joe, and Punchy charging into the house like a bunch of bull elephants as they are knocking Pa slightly off ba-lance as Pa is now leaning against the house to regain his composure. Joe and Punchy made it in as Knobby did not.

PA to KNOBBY WALSH: {As Pa has now regained his composure and is now cornering Knobby and has a mean look on his face as he is stating to Knobby in a really mean voice}: "Just a minute Mr. Manager, before you start tearing into that food again what about paying me some thing on the bill?" {Here we are seeing Pa spitting out a mush full of chaw}:

KNOBBY WALSH to PA: {As Knobby is looking at him with a devious look as he is stating to him in a con-artist style of a voice}: "No use to both of us worrying, let me worry about that, will you please?"

Again we are now in the kitchen quarters where we are seeing both Joe and Punchy sitting down hurridly at the breakfast table; {The table is decorated with a pretty red and white gingham cheque print cloth table covering. Lovely white china with a leaf pattern, cut crystal crème pitcher, sugar dish and juice glasses filled with grape juice and sterling silver cutlery}:

JOE PALOOKA to MISS MATILDA: {As he is smiling happily at her as she is now giving Joe a smirk look back as she is now bringing them their morning grub}: "Morning, Miss Matilda."

MISS MATILDA to JOE PALOOKA: {As she is looking at him with a dazed smirk and is saying to him in a low and slightly mad but still polite voice}: "Morning, Mr. Joe."

Miss Matilda has now set down a platter of ham, eggs, sausages, bacon strips and flap stacks as we are now seeing Punchy stabbing at it like he hasn't eaten for a week.

We are now on Punchy as he is smiling joyfully as he is now putting lard and sirup on his twelve flap stacks and is now gobbling them down in glee as Punchy is now eating a mess of bacon strips, ham slices, and sausages and eight eggs.

We are now once again on the front porch with both Pa and Knobby Walsh as Knobby has a really worried look on his face as Pa is holding a long itemised list of what Knobby owes cash for.

KNOBBY WALSH to PA: {As Knobby is standing there looking at Pa with a dumbfounded look and is stating to Pa in a slightly mad voice}: "Now wait a minute, was that coffee? I wrote a letter to my Mother with that stuff, I thought it was ink."

PA to KNOBBY WALSH: {As Pa is still standing on the front porch looking at the list of items as he has a mad look on his face and is stating to Knobby in a really mad voice}: "Never-the-less, that makes a total of "SIXTY-EIGHT, SIXTY!"

KNOBBY WALSH to PA: {As Knobby is looking at Pa with a mischievous look and is stating to him mischievously as Knobby is now reaching into his right trousers pocket for his bill fold}: "You're right, I'll tell you what, I'll do, I'm gonna pay you half the bill right now."

PA to KNOBBY WALSH: {As Pa is still holding the list and is standing there with with his eyes bugging out of his head and his mouth agait as he is stating to Knobby in a low and questionable voice}: "Half the bill?"

KNOBBY WALSH to PA: {As Knobby is looking at him mischievously and is using a mischievous voice}: "Yeah, the lat half, the sixty cents, haaha-haaha-haaha-haaha-haaha-haaha!"

PA to KNOBBY WALSH: {As Pa has a really furious look on his face and is shouting evily at him as he is getting ready to punch Knobby right in his kisser}: "That's the last straw!"

KNOBBY WALSH to PA: {As Knobby is putting his right hand on his left shoulder and is looking at him with a whipped puppy look and is stating to him seriously}: "Now, don't get sore. I've got another idea. You've had a yen for that bicycle haven't you?"

PA to KNOBBY WALSH: {As Pa is standing on the porch scratching his chin as he is now looking at the bicycle adorningly and is stating to Knobby in a low and serious voice}: "Yes, I sure have!"

KNOBBY WALSH to PA: {As Knobby is looking at both Pa and the bicycle mischievously and is stating to Pa in a huckster voice}: "Well, how about taking the bicycle and calling everything even?"

PA to KNOBBY WALSH: {As Pa is looking at Knobby with a mad look and is stating to Knobby in a really disagreeable voice}: "Well, if I do that, the bi-cycle will cost me sixty-eight, sixty. No sir, for that I can buy a good Jersey cow."

KNOBBY WALSH to PA: {As Knobby is still trying to shuck and jive Pa to take the bicycle for the bill is stating to Pa in a mischievous voice}: "You'll look awful funny, riding a cow around the farm, haaha-haaha-haaha-haaha-haaha-haaha!"

PA to KNOBBY WALSH: {As Pa is now being quick witted with Knobby as he is answering back in a really wittedly and mischievous voice}: "Not half as funny as they'd look milking a bi-cycle, heenha-heenha-heenha-heenha-heenha-heenha-heenha-heenah."

KNOBBY WALSH to PA: {As Knobby is now putting his hands into his trousers front pockets and is looking at the front porch floor with a really devious look as he is stating to Pa in a worried voice}: "Well, I can't think on an empty stomach, maybe after breakfast I'll have a better idea!"

We are now seeing both Pa and Knobby looking at one another with mad looks as they are still standing on the porch as Knobby is now pulling a fast one to be able to sneak in for some morning grub.

KNOBBY: {As he is now raising his right hand and is waving like he has seen someone and is shouting gleefully}: "Hiya!"

We are now seeing Pa looking at the direction to where Knobby supposedly saw someone to see who it was as Knobby has now snuck into the house and has closed the front door and is now slipping into the kitchen to get his share of the morning grub.

We are now seeing a close-up on Pa as he is standing there with his hands on his waist and a look of bewilderment on his face as he has now noticed that he has been "Horn Swoggled" again by the fast talking Knobby.

Pa is now starring mischievously at the bicycle as he is now sneakingly trying to take it for a quick trip around the farm on it. We are now seeing Pa getting on the bicycle as Pa has gone only two feet in length as he has now fallen hard on his keester and has busted the entrance fence on the porch and has a hurt look on his face.

We are now back in the kitchen quarters where we are seeing both Joe and Punchy happily chowing down on their wheat cakes, ham slices, sausage links, bacon strips and eggs. Knobby is now in the process of joining them.

JOE PALOOKA to KNOBBY WALSH: {As Joe is holding his fork in his left hand and is looking at Knobby with a serious look and is answering him in a serious voice}: "Only eight, today!"

KNOBBY WALSH to PUNCHY: {As Knobby is looking at Punchy furiously and is now taking a hold of his bibbie and is looking at it with an ugly glare and is stating to him evily}: "Oh, I see, four for himself, and four for his shirt. You tear into food like yous was mad at it. Would you like something else to go with the fried eggs?"

PUNCHY to KNOBBY WALSH: {As Punchy is sitting there with a really mischievous look as he is stating to him in a garbbled mouthful of food voice}: "I'd like a few boiled eggs."

KNOBBY WALSH to PUNCHY: {As Knobby still has his left hand under his chin and is looking at Punchy deviously and is answering him back wickedly}: "So would I. Get up and boil me some. Come on, get up and boil me some!" {At first Punchy was ignoring Knobby as he was taking a piece of a wheat cake and was sopping up some egg yolk with it but now Punchy is getting up quickly to boil some eggs as Knobby is now furiously pounding his fists on the table and is shouting wickedly at Punchy}:

Punchy has now waved happily at Knobby as he is now approaching the cooking stove and not paying attention to what he was doing as he is now picking up three eggs and is absent-mindly starring at them as he has now dropped Knobby's arm clock into the pot of boiling water instead of the eggs.

We are now getting a glimpse of both Joe Palooka and Knobby Walsh as Joe is now in the process of putting some sirup on his flap stacks and Knobby is now running over to Punchy and the stove.

Stand up, stand up, I'll get my watch back, I'll get my watch back, keep quiet!" {Here we are seeing Knobby using Punchy's sweatshirt as a strainer as Punchy is now yelling painfully as the boiling water is now burning his stomach}: "Oh, don't you hollar, I'm the guy, ooooh-ooooh-ooooh-ooooh-ooooh-ooooh." {Here we are seeing Knobby taking his arm clock and is tossing it from hand to hand trying to cool it down has now placed it in his right side trousers pocket but is taking it out quickly as it is still burning hot}:

PUNCH to KNOBBY WALSH: {As Punchy is still holding onto three eggs and has a mischievous look on his face as he is asking him mischievously}: "What should I do with these?"

KNOBBY WALSH to PUNCHY: {As Knobby and Punchy are now laughing with one another as Knobby is stating to Punchy in a mad and mischievous voice}: "Hold those!" {Here we are now seeing Knobby hitting Punchy's right hand and is smucking the eggs into Punchy's face}:
