A gorilla escapes from the zoo and prowls the city rooftops, enters Mrs. Van Sickle's apartment, and makes off with her diamond necklace. Wide Awake Detective Agency investigators Besser and Hawthorne answer the call for help, and trail the suspect to an antique dealer's offices in the same building. Thinking it's a crook in disguise, the boys confront the "chiminey-pansy," just as two antique thieves enter the scene.

A remake of FRAIDY CAT (1951), with stock footage, which itself was a remake of The Three Stooges' DIZZY DETECTIVES (1943).

In the new footage, the gorilla is credited to BONANZA's Dan Blocker.  That information comes from a production call sheet, but is questionable.  The onscreen character does not appear tall enough (even in a crouched position) to be Blocker.  Also, the gorilla suit appears to be the "Corrigan / Calvert" 'Naba' suit seen in other Stooges comedies (e.g. THREE MISSING LINKS, CRIME ON THEIR HANDS), but that costume would be too small for Blocker.

Sort of a reworking of the 1943 Three Stooges short "Dizzy Detectives" and the 1951 Joe Besser solo effort "Fraidy Cat". It's basically 90% the same as the latter short, only the new footage adds a subplot where Besser and Hawthorne try to retrieve stolen jewelry from the gorilla. This was also Dudley Dickerson's last appearance in a Columbia short ho plays a spooked janitor in the new footage.
