Saturday morning, young children's animated series, based on a popular line of children's Hallmark greeting cards. The Shirt Tales are a group of animals who live in a public park's old oak tree under the watchful eye of their friend, park superintendent Mr. Dinkel, who lead a double life as crimefighters and mystery solvers. The animals' shirts randomly proclaim phrases like "Hug Me!," to communicate the mood of the characters and plot.
An elephant (Joe Besser) escapes from a train transporting wild animals to an animal sanctuary. Mr. Dinkel and the Shirt Tales are on the case to capture the animal. But the elephant is actually a timid and frightened beast named Elmo, whose escape was an accident, and only wants to reach his intended destination at the park.
