JOEY BISHOP SHOW, THE - Jillson's Toupee

Air Date/Released Sunday, December 13, 1964
Station/Studio CBS / Danny Thomas Enterprises
Featuring Joe Besser (Solo)

Joey Barnes hosts a CBS Sunday night variety show from New York. Episodes revolve around his professional and personal life, with celebrities appearing as themselves. At home are Joey's beautiful wife Abby, and maid Hilda. Joe Besser costars as Mr. Jillson, the barely competent apartment building superintendent, a high-strung man with a heart of gold. Rounding out the main characters is Larry Corbett, Joey's best friend, head writer and manager.

Joey treats Jillson to a toupee for his birthday. But the change in appearance brings on another change when Jillson's usual nice-guy personality is replaced by an egocentric. A tenants' revolt has no effect on Jillson... until the building's children, who regard Mr. Jillson as their friend, express their disappointment in his behavior.
