Joey Barnes hosts a CBS Sunday night variety show from New York. Episodes revolve around his professional and personal life, with celebrities appearing as themselves. At home are Joey's beautiful wife Abby, and maid Hilda. Joe Besser costars as Mr. Jillson, the barely competent apartment building superintendent, a high-strung man with a heart of gold. Rounding out the main characters is Larry Corbett, Joey's best friend, head writer and manager.

Jan Murray and Joey volunteer to participate in a celebrity boxing event for the Boys Club. All the fun goes out the window when Joey is mistakenly convinced that Jan is training for a serious bout. So Joey begins training, which Jan takes as a challenge.
