Joey Barnes hosts a CBS Sunday night variety show from New York. Episodes revolve around his professional and personal life, with celebrities appearing as themselves. At home are Joey's beautiful wife Abby, and maid Hilda. Joe Besser costars as Mr. Jillson, the barely competent apartment building superintendent, a high-strung man with a heart of gold. Rounding out the main characters is Larry Corbett, Joey's best friend, head writer and manager.
Larry and Liz decide to marry as soon as possible, but Ellie feels they should have a longer engagement. Her opinion reveals misgivings about the short engagement that she and Joey had. Joey makes it up to her with a belated courtship.
