HOLLYWOOD INSIDER

Air Date/Released Monday, May 6, 1985
Station/Studio USA Network
Host/Star Sandie Newton
Featuring Miscellaneous Appearances

From 1985 – 1995, cable's USA Network produced this entertainment news magazine, with news featuretes, rather than news stories like E.T. This 3-minute segment reports on "The Making of the Stooges," the home video version of 50 YEARS WITH THE FUNNIEST GUYS IN THE WORLD (1983). Clips from the film (public domain footage) are shown, along with interview clips with costars Emil Sitka and Julie Gibson, and cameramen Al Keller & Henry Freulich.

"The Making of the Stooges" was released on VHS and Beta in late 1983, shortly after its August 30, 1983 premiere in L.A.; the distributor was Karl Home Video. This segment refers to a 1985 re-release by Warner Home Video; however, there is no record that Warner actually released this product... possibly a last-minute licensing snafu.

The exact date this news story aired is unknown. HOLLYWOOD INSIDER premiered on May 6, 1985, and the Warner version of the video was apparently planned as a 1985 release.

Cast: Sandie Newton (Host), Moe Howard, Larry Fine, Shemp Howard, Curly Howard (archive footage), Emil Sitka, Julie Gibson, Al Keller, Henry Freulich (interview archive footage)
