A made-for-video documentary, 1-hour & 50 minutes, produced for GoodTimes Home Video, utilizing the video label's library of public domain material. Narrated by Steve Allen. Several comedy teams, silent to sound era, receive brief mention at the top of the piece: The Keystone Kops, Tons of Fun, radio's Amos & Andy (Charles J. Correll and Freeman F. Gosden in blackface), Wheeler & Woolsey, Clark & McCullough, The Ritz Brothers, Edgar Bergen & Charlie McCarthy, Olsen & Johnson and Hope & Crosby.

Following those, 10 to 15 minutes apiece is dedicated to Our Gang, Laurel & Hardy, The Marx Brothers, Burns & Allen, The Three Stooges, The Dead End Kids / The East Side Kids / The Bowery Boys, Abbott & Costello and Martin & Lewis.


Originally released as a VHS in 1986, GoodTimes re-released it in 2004 on DVD as part of a compilation set, "The Best of Classic Comedy Teams."
