THEATRICAL NIGHTS

Air Date/Released Tuesday, August 4, 1925
Station/Studio WMCA-AM New York City (radio)
Host/Star Julius Tannen
Featuring Ted Healy (Solo)

Premiere broadcast of THEATRICAL NIGHTS featured the cast of Broadway's THE EARL CARROLL VANITIES. Performed from the Hotel McAlpin Roof, VANITIES stars Ted & Betty Healy were featured in the broadcast, along with Julius Tannen, Bobby Folsom and others from the cast.

VANITIES ran at the Earl Carroll Theatre from July 6 - October 7, 1925 with the Healys as its stars. After their departure, the show continued until it closed on December 27, 1925.

Radio promotion for VANITIES, and compensation for that, was the reported reason for Healy leaving the Broadway show. Whether it was appearances for this radio show, or another, as the cause of the disagreement with Carroll is unknown.

Not mentioned in radio listings are Healy's "stooges" in VANITIES, Dave Chasen, Richard 'Lou' Warren and Kenneth Lackey. It is possible they performed in the broadcast with Ted, but that is not verified.

Cast: Julius Tannen (M.C.), Ted Healy, Betty Healy, Bobby Folsom
