BAGGY PANTS AND THE NITWITS - Simple Simon and the Mad Pieman

Saturday morning, animated series. 'Baggy Pants' is a cat modeled after Charlie Chaplin, whose animated adventures were done in silent-film style, with musical accompaniment of the era. 'The Nitwits' are a loose spin-off of ROWAN & MARTIN'S LAUGH-IN (1968 - 1973), with Tyrone F. Hornigh (Arte Johnson) as a superhero, his super-cane Elmo, and wife Gladys Ormphy (Ruth Buzzi) as his technical and moral support.

Baggy Pants is hired as an assistant by magician Magnificent Mac, and promptly begins fouling up his stage act¦ to the delight of the audience, in the episode "The Magician's Assistant."

The Mad Pieman and his henchman Simple Simon (Joe Besser) descend from the sky in their blimp to vacuum the citizens' cream pies, and replace them with hypnotic-laced replacements in an attempt to enslave and loot the city. Tyrone is captured by the villains, and Gladys concocts a giant "trojan" cream pie to enters the villains' lair and foil their plans.
