Sitcom about Los Angeles newspaper columnist Hal Towne, a widower raising his precocious young son, Randy. While working on his column "All Around Towne," Hal relies on housekeeper Sarge to keep things running at home. Hal's job often made him the target of attractive women, to the concern of his girlfriend and publicity agent Karen.

Hal tells Randy to stand up for himself when a bully threatens him, but his advice backfires when Hal finds himself in the same situation, and he's afraid he will lose.
