Fine Art of Boxing, The (No Stooge in the Ring)
A rancher feels threatened by the farmers settling in "his" town, and begins a range war of intimidation and murder with a group of killer henchmen. Some of the farmers have sent for mail order brides, and to prevent the possibility of new families resulting from these marriages, he brings in hired assassin Clint Jones (John Carroll) to kill the prospective bridegrooms and finally force the farmers out of town. A reknowned gunfighter, Jones long since sold his soul to the highest bidder, but perhaps a hint of conscience shines through.
Joe Besser costars, with Bea Benaderet (Looney Tunes, THE BURNS & ALLEN SHOW, THE FLINTSTONES, THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES, PETTICOAT JUNCTION) as his mail order bride.
Filmed in Naturama (CinemaScope).
The final film produced by Republic Studios.
John Carroll costarred with Abbott & Costello in RIO RITA (1942), and The Marx Brothers in GO WEST (1940).
Candy Candido toured with Bud Abbott in the early 1960s as Abbott & Candido, before Bud's health problems ended the act.
